Cenk hosting today.  The House has finally passed the Senate’s version of the Violence Against Women Act.  Cenk attributes this to the age old declaration that if you beat them with a stick a couple of times, they will do. TPM.com  Sherrod Brown is teaming up with David Vitter to pass a bill to reign in the banks’ influence on the country. Huffington Post story.  The Obama Admin is going to back the side of gay marriage in the Court fight against Prop 8.  Cenk notices how vigorously Dems are defending and advocating for gay rights since they realized that the gay lobby is where the next influential voting block was coming from. Bradley Manning has agreed to plead guilty on some of the lesser charges, which could land him in prison for 20 years, but the more serious charges are still up for debate.  He also tried to give the story to the Washington Post & NY Times at first, but they turned it down.  His statements show that he was a true whistleblower, which the government despises. Lauren Windsor’s U Can’t Cut This video featuring several members of the TYT cast.  A woman in Indonesia drowned her 9 year old son because he had a small penis and felt he’d have a lot of negativity to deal with in life.  Video of South African police dragging a man to death; tied to the back of a police van.  The man was a cab driver that got into a conflict with the police where he got the upper hand by taking away an officer’s gun.  Even though he didn't shoot anyone, they resorted to this tactic to punish him. Bloomberg Businessweek magazine is catching heat for an offensive cover depicting Black people and Latinos as money grabbing homeowners with big lips. Cenk got more worked up during the break about the Bloomberg Businessweek cover.  A Sunni student criticized the “Cop a Feel” efforts to convince women to get breast cancer screenings.  This complaint highlights the many ways the breast cancer efforts have devolved into simply sexualizing boobs. Salon.com  A couple of different bills put forward in Arkansas are designed to eliminate abortion after 12 weeks. Arkansas abortion law.  Students in Andover, MA are being sent home with a “Fat Letter” to tell parents that their kid is overweight. Huffington Post  A 19 year old man was shot 15 times by former gang members and survived. Fox Atlanta  Aspartame has been put in many of our dairy products lately and those companies are lobbying the FDA to continue to be able to do this. Huffington Post aspartame story  Some kids in S.
