The Young Turks: August 29, 2013

Eric Holder has announced that the Feds will not challenge the legality of marijuana in Colorado and Washington after hinting that they will shut it down despite their law change.  President Obama was interviewed by PBS about why he will probably intervene in Syria. Intelligence officials are telling the AP that the definite answer that the Assad regime was responsible is not a slam dunk.  John Boehner pointed out that although certain members of Congress have been consulted, it hasn’t been done properly, leaving the door open to call his move unconstitutional and wrongheaded if it goes south at all.  Russia has sent a couple of warships to the Mediterranean nearby all of the potential Syrian action.  Vladimir Putin is extremely upset that Obama described him as the bored kid in the back of the classroom.  Donald Rumsfeld has been vocal about Obama’s handling of foreign policy decisions with Syria and the war on terror.  He doesn’t like that there aren’t any reasons put forward by Obama to send us into Syria. More of Republicans’ onslaught of the MLK Anniversary, looking to adopt him as a Conservative thinker.  Former representative Joe Walsh wrote his own I Have a Dream speech that is based around their favorite term, “personal responsibility.  Cenk picks apart the empty words “personal responsibility.” Article.  Video of Prof Jodie Armor’s take on the term.  Rep Steve King compared Americans in need of some government assistance to kids that need to do their chores in order to get allowance.  A Maine man has been visited by the Secret Service after he posted a picture of Obama on his Facebook page with the caption, “Shoot the Nigger.”  He explained that the words weren’t based in race and not threatening, because even White people can be niggers. The trigger happy police chief in PA that made videos of him shooting machine guns at targets of political figures is at it again, this time shooting at local officials that he disagrees with.  George Zimmerman’s wife gave an interview to ABC where she revealed that they fought the night before the murder and that their marriage is on the ropes.
