The Young Turks: February 24, 2014

Cenk hosting.  Rep John Dingell, the longest serving Congressman in American history is retiring.  Cenk goes through the amazing facts surrounding Dingell.  A new deal has been reached between Netflix and Comcast which requires Netflix to pay Comcast a huge amount of money to still have their same rate of service for their customers.  Netflix did this to avoid being shackled, but also to keep any new competition out of the game that they just paid to be in.  They figure that if anyone else comes in to challenge, Comcast will slow them down and keep them uncompetitive.  The former president of the Ukraine has fled even after the tentative deal was reached between the government and protesters.  The documents that they found validated the suspicion of extreme corruption.  Russians are very upset about these developments and won’t recognize the new government as legitimate.  Oddly, Americans are upset at Russia for being upset, with some politicians claiming that this anger will lead to aggressiveness.  John McCain spoke about how Putin should be nervous, too.  Susan Rice went on MSNBC to quell thoughts that this is the beginning of another Cold War.  Kelly Ayotte also piled on, focusing on blaming Obama for not being strong enough.  An LGBT discriminatory law has passed in Arizona, where Gov Brewer is the only hurdle left before it becomes law.  A Republican that voted for it is now calling for it to be vetoed now that they’re catching hell for their bigoted points of view.  Cenk gives some Bible quotes that would allow people to do heinous things if they propose they hold deep religious beliefs. The Chairman and CEO of Exxon is leading the fight against a fracking project when its being planned to happen near his 83 acre property.  He’s going so far as to filing a lawsuit along with Dick Armey, the head of Tea Party corporation, Freedomworks.  Former Lt Gen Jerry Boykin, known for declaring a holy war between Christians and Muslims, has resurfaced for declaring that Jesus will return with an AR-15 to ruthlessly murder his enemies.  Rep Paul Broun outlined how he’s not like other Conservative candidates because he will not vote yes on any bill that doesn’t fit with Judeo-Christian Biblical text.   Look for TYT Announcements from Ambassador Jeni here: http://bit.ly/TYTForum

Ana joins Cenk for SCS.  Jason Collins has been signed as the first openly gay athlete to play in one of the four major sports after the Brooklyn Nets signed him and played him last night.  One of the most sought after drug cartel kingpins in Mexico has been captured.  Discussion over whether or not this will end the reign of cartels in Mexico, but many experts claim that there are many replacements ready to take control immediately.  Police in Austin Texas arrested a female jogger that was jaywalking and didn’t show identification when they caught up with her.  Video of her screaming while being thrown in the back of the police car.  The Austin police chief came forward and said that the woman is lucky that the officers were very generous, considering that other cops in other cities sexually assault citizens in these situations.  After this was criticized, he apologized for this comments. Washington authorities have arrested a rape victim in order to force her to testify against her assailant.  She promised to come testify, but would consistently fail to show up.  An Ethiopian woman in Sudan was gang raped by several men, but she was convicted, fined, and jailed for adultery/indecent acts.  The son of the pastor that passed away from a snake bite decided to handle snakes as well, and immediately handled the one that killed his father.  Piers Morgan’s CNN show is coming to an end due to the low ratings.  One writer wrote that Morgan’s ratings are tanking because he is a British man speaking about contentious American issues.  Cenk disputes these assertions.  Alec Baldwin interview with NY Magazine where he talks about leaving public life after his horrific year in 2013.  Reaction to it is mixed at TYT.    Look for TYT Announcements from Ambassador Jeni here: http://bit.ly/TYTForum
